The LOSD Governing Board authorizes independent study as an optional alternative instructional strategy for students whose needs may be best met through study outside of the regular classroom setting due to emergency, illness, or other reasons (including scheduling conflicts, being out of town, etc.). Site Admin determines whether Independent Study is educationally appropriate based on attendance history, academic standing, and circumstances. The SPED Department must be notified prior to approval of an Independent Study for a student with an IEP. Students with an IEP require an Amendment PRIOR to the start of their Independent Study.

Parents:
STEP 1: Complete the Request Form linked to the left.
STEP 2: Upon approval for Independent study, you may download the materials or request printed copies from the School Office.
Please have your child complete the number of assignment packets that correspond to the number of absences. For example:
One (1) absence = Complete Day 1 work packet
Two (2) absences = Complete Day 1 and Day 2 work packets
